How Can There Be Two Contradictory Interpretations in the Torah?

Are disagreements merely superficial, with a deeper solution where both sides are correct? Here's a Talmudic example.

How can it be that these and those are the words of the living God in matters that contradict each other, such as the disputes between Rambam and Ramban regarding the resurrection of the dead and many more, even when the disagreement is about reality..

Hello and blessings,

Most disagreements can coexist, as each commentator describes a different aspect of reality.

Thus, the Talmud itself describes a dispute regarding the incident of the concubine at Gibeah (Gittin, page 6, page b). In this dispute, the Sages tried to clarify the reason that led the husband to be angry with his concubine wife (apparently from ancient traditions passed down through generations). One said that the husband saw a hair in the dough she prepared, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back, leading him to the conclusion that his wife was not maintaining modesty. The other said that the husband saw a fly at the bottom of the dough, which broke the camel's back, leading him to the conclusion that his wife was disrespectful to him. The Talmud tells that later Rabbi Abaye encountered Elijah the Prophet and asked him who among them was correct, and Elijah told him that both were correct. How? The husband indeed saw a fly in the dough, but he restrained himself from getting upset; however, later he also saw a hair in the same dough, which broke the camel's back. Had he only seen the fly, he might have calmed down; had he only seen the hair, he would have restrained himself, but since he witnessed both one after the other, his patience failed and he became angry with his wife, which led to a very unfortunate sequence of events (Judges 19-21), and this is not the place to address serious mistakes in family life and relationships. But from here we see how two rabbis disagreeing on a particular issue can turn out to be like two spectators, each speaking from a different angle on the same truth. This is likely the intent behind the phrase "seventy faces to the Torah." Elijah the Prophet concluded his words by saying to Rabbi Abaye: "These and those are the words of the living God".

Regarding the resurrection of the dead - indeed, there can be several possibilities of how the redemption will actually occur, as it depends on our actions and our spiritual level.
