Shocking: How to Revive Dried-Out Gummy Candies That Are No Longer 'Edible'
Kids want a gummy candy, but it's dried out? Bring them 'back to life' with one of these three tips used by chefs worldwide.

We're not advocating for eating gummy candies, which we consider one of the worst things to give a child. But if you're giving a child a candy and you find that the candies are hard and inedible but the child insists, you can revive them using one of the following three tips that chefs worldwide use.
The Apple Method – Similar to What You Do with Brown Sugar
"If it works for dried-out brown sugar, it works for licorice," says chef Martha Stewart.
How to do it?
- Place the candies in an airtight container with a fresh apple slice.
- Close and leave for a few hours until they absorb moisture.
4. A Quick Microwave Heating – The Fast Method
"This trick works, but be careful not to melt them too much," explains chef Gordon Ramsay.
How to do it?
- Place the candies on a plate.
- Heat in the microwave on defrost setting (or low power) for only 5-10 seconds.
- Wait a few seconds and check if the texture has softened.
5. A Quick Soak in Hot Tea – The Traditional English Method
"For an interesting twist, licorice softens nicely with the flavors of black tea with honey," says chef Jamie Oliver.
How to do it?

- Prepare a cup of hot tea (preferably flavors that blend well with licorice, such as black tea or tea with orange).
- Dip the candies in the tea for just a few seconds until they soften slightly.
How to Keep Licorice and Gummy Candies Fresh for a Long Time?
Store in an airtight container – preferably glass or hard plastic with a tightly closed lid.
Do not store in the refrigerator – the cold dries out the candies and makes them harder.
