How Onion Juice Can Help Restore Thinning Hair

There are many tips that can help strengthen hair roots during shedding, but this is one of the best we have encountered.

You know it from the salad, the delicious dish you just prepared, and maybe even from the honey concoction you specially made for a cough - but did you know that onions can also help you with hair loss issues?

An interesting study conducted on the subject examined the virtues - not of the onion itself, but of the juice extracted from it. It found that not only does it prevent baldness and strengthen hair roots, but it also promotes new root growth.

Why does this actually happen? Which component in the onion is responsible for accelerating hair roots? The compound likely responsible for this is the unusually high amounts of sulfur, which when applied to the scalp, stimulates blood flow and encourages circulation to this area. It is interesting to note that onion juice contains a special ingredient called catalase - a powerful and significant enzyme that connects with antioxidants that prevent aging and delays the growth of white and gray hair in men. "Catalase plays a crucial role in protecting hair color," explain the study leaders. According to them, catalase breaks down the hydrogen peroxide that accumulates in hair follicles. Why does this matter? "The accumulation of hydrogen peroxide in hair follicles damages the melanin pigment responsible for hair color, leading to gray hair," they explain. "Onion juice is rich in catalase, so it preserves the natural color of the hair over time. It also helps build keratin, the main protein from which hair is made, making the hair stronger, more resilient, less dry, and less brittle."

How to extract onion juice, and how to use it for hair?

First, grind the onion in a juicer and strain the liquid.

Collect the liquid in a glass jar and massage the scalp with the liquid for twenty minutes.

Rinse the scalp with lukewarm water and mild shampoo to remove the odor.

Use this method at least two to three times a week.

For extra strength, you can add a tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil to the onion.
