Tiffany Floyd from the USA just wanted to make her four-year-old daughter happy when she stopped at a Burger King in New York to buy them a quick meal.
But what was supposed to be a treat quickly turned into a nightmare. It all started when her daughter, Sarah, began to cry and complain about the ketchup on her bun. "Mom, I don’t want ketchup."
Tiffany looked at the bun and couldn’t believe her eyes. The ketchup didn’t even smell like ketchup; it smelled like something she didn’t even want to consider as a possibility.
Tiffany did a U-turn with her car and headed straight to the store manager, who didn’t hide the truth and told her that an employee had cut his hand before preparing her meal.
Tiffany was left in shock.
"It’s not just the absurdity of discovering the lack of hygiene and disregard for people," Tiffany shared in a media interview. "It’s mainly the dismissive attitude from the store manager, who blamed me for complaining without reason while I could just come to the store and get a new meal. I don’t want a new meal. I want the health department to intervene and ensure others aren’t harmed by similar situations in the future."
After the media storm that followed, it was reported that the store closed for a few days for thorough cleaning and employee training, but Floyd remained concerned. "My daughter is still traumatized," she recounts. "She refuses to eat for fear of blood in her food, and she’s a bit anxious during regular blood tests."
A video Tiffany posted on social media, describing the incident, received over 6 million views. "I want to warn the public, everyone watching me now, not to ‘swallow’ everything sold to you, literally. Look at the food before you eat it. Check it. Most of us start eating immediately without checking, and I hope this helps others realize that sometimes there are mistakes we can pay a high price for."
