Yesterday (Monday), the Kashrut Department of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel published a kashrut update containing several alerts about kashrut issues.
As Chanukah approaches, the Rabbinate reminds that according to kashrut guidelines, for sufganiyot with dairy filling, supervisors must ensure that part of the filling is visible to clearly indicate they are dairy. Additionally, signs must state they are dairy to prevent the public from making mistakes.
The Rabbinate also noted that supervisors must separate dairy sufganiyot from pareve ones on the trays. Preparation of sufganiyot with dough containing dairy ingredients is not permitted.
The kashrut update also reported that recently, "Crystal" beverage cans in various flavors without any kosher certification have been discovered throughout the country. After checking with the manufacturing company, it was confirmed that there is indeed a production line operating without kosher certification.
The Rabbinate emphasizes that the non-kosher cans are almost identical to the kosher ones, so one must verify that the Rehovot Rabbinate's kosher certification is printed on the can.
Also, individual bottles of "Eden Springs" water without kosher certification have recently been found in stores. Attention must be paid to the kosher certification marking.
About six months ago, kosher certification was removed from the three branches of the "Parents Center" nursing home chain in Nahariya – Panorama House, Palace House, and Hosen House, according to the Nahariya Rabbinate. Despite the removal of certification, the owner continues to present the facilities as kosher. The public should be aware and cautious.
On the other hand, the "First Club" hotel in Eilat, which had its kosher certification removed several months ago, has resumed operating under the supervision of the Eilat Rabbinate.
