After nine long months, Major Moshe Sheinfeld had not seen his family until the emotional reunion this week at his children's school in California.
Major Moshe Sheinfeld, serving in Afghanistan, surprised his three children in the middle of a Purim celebration at the Orthodox 'Hillel' school, to the amazement of dozens of parents and other students from Beverly Hills.
"Welcome Mordechai the modern Jew," announced Rabbi Baruch Sophrin, the school's rabbi, during the celebration, adding, "Today we introduce you to Mordechai the modern Jew - who wears a uniform and helps make the world a better place."
When the rabbi finished speaking, Sheinfeld entered the large hall, surprising his children and wife, who hadn't seen him for nine months, as they ran to him with tears of joy.

For a long time, his children embraced him, cried, and found it hard to part. In a video later shared on social media, the excited parents around were seen filming and capturing the touching reunion of the father with his family, as well as the moment he took to the stage at the rabbi's request to share some of his experiences from the last nine months.
He stated that his platoon fought 13-14 hours a day, but no matter how tired he felt, he never gave up on studying Torah. "No matter how hard I worked, even 16 and 18 hours, when I returned to my room - I studied Torah. Pirkei Avot and Tehillim every day, and it gave me the energy to continue. It's wonderful to see everyone here, in a place of Torah," he concluded.
