Eliyahu Shiri: "I Address Skepticism From the Start"

Can healing be done remotely, or can one influence another without any communication? In his new book 'Zero Time,' Eliyahu Shiri presents Jewish sources and scientific studies to prove that it's indeed possible and teaches how anyone can try it at home.

Eliyahu Shiri is known as a prominent coach today, but as a young boy, he suffered from social anxiety that plagued his life. He was insecure, had low self-esteem, and did not even dare to raise his hand in class to answer a question posed by the teacher. "I felt I was investing countless energies and internal struggles in every simplest social action I wished to undertake," he shares. "I suffered greatly and desperately wanted to find a solution to this suffering. So, I began roaming various libraries, looking for books that discussed various strategies and methods: how to develop self-confidence, how to feel comfortable with yourself, how to unleash the power of expression and the art of speech." One day he came across a book that taught him the wonders of self-hypnosis. That book, he says, simply changed his life.

"I read the book and applied everything it advised meticulously. After a year of diligently practicing the exercises in the book, I felt I was the most dominant person in the class, that I had self-confidence, and I could surpass anyone who wasn't engaged in personal development. Suddenly, my enemies became friends, people I feared became pleasant companions, and I felt I suddenly had charisma emanating from within. At the age of 16 and a half, briefly, I became somewhat of a self-improvement expert."

As a result of his new knowledge, every time he heard from a friend or family member about a troubling issue, he began talking to them about the possibility of solving it through awareness of the soul and subconscious. "There was a guy the whole class laughed at because of his stuttering and facial expressions," he illustrates. "I helped him solve it within two months. Before long, I found myself conducting home workshops voluntarily for people interested in what I had to say."

10 Years of Study – This Time Theological

When Shiri returned to religion, he dedicated ten years to Torah study. Ten years during which, he says, he repeatedly recognized in the sources the secrets related to the soul that he had diligently learned. "I started a massive effort of collecting sources and meeting with Torah scholars. I believe when people see models from the sources, their souls are much more influenced. And so, I built real mind maps and statements based on Judaism."

His new book, 'Zero Time,' is constructed in the same way.

"The method detailed in the book started following an article published in the U.S. about a clinical psychologist who managed to heal an entire ward of mentally ill patients remotely – due to work he did on himself at home. The ability to heal from afar he learned from a traditional healer who managed to cure his daughter of a severe illness. People read the article, sent it to us, and asked if it also exists in the sources."

Upon reading the story, Shiri says, he started rubbing his eyes. That same 'discovery' about the ability to influence another's soul from afar, he states, is explicitly found in Judaism.

"The concepts are based on what Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov wrote in the book 'Baal Shem Tov on the Torah.' In the Genesis portion, he writes that if a person sees any distress in another or some spiritual or material defect, know that in terms of the unity of Hashem in creation since we are all united, it certainly means that if I saw the problem and illness in another - it exists in some vibration within my soul. And if I manage to cleanse that vibration in my soul, I am also responsible for the other's healing and salvation. There are four stages that essentially show how to do this, how to heal blockages in others, disbelief, distorted views, illness, emotional issues in the other, without meeting them and, of course, also influencing ourselves."

Can you share an instance where this method worked?

"I was giving a lecture in Bnei Brak, and an Orthodox woman stood up and told about her son who suffers from twitches and tics that cause him great embarrassment and damage his social standing. I talked about the sources that prove parents can influence their child's fate without talking to them at all, only through inner work on themselves. She accepted this and said she would try. Three months later, I was giving a lecture at the Kinar Hotel, and she stood up in front of 600 women and shared that she and her husband did the work. Her son's condition improved to the point where all symptoms disappeared. In general, whenever I ask people in the audience familiar with the method to raise their hands if they have done the exercises and experienced the desired effect, the hall fills with raised hands."

Are you aware that many people will be skeptical about the far-reaching claims of the method...

"I address this skepticism from the beginning. Want to be skeptics? Let's be professional skeptics. I raise all doubts and then present unequivocal Jewish sources, alongside, differentiating brain research and studies in quantum physics. Ultimately, the skeptics understand that the separation between one person and another is essentially an illusion. We are all interconnected – and therefore, we can all influence one another."
