3. According to tradition, once every 28 years, the sun returns to its original position, at the same hour and day of the week as it was at Creation. Birkat Hachama always falls on Wednesday, since Hashem placed the luminaries in the sky during Creation on Wednesday (the fourth day of the week). The blessing is recited once every 10,227 days.
4. Before the blessing, one should look at the sun, and then recite with proper intention: "Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who makes the works of creation."
5. This blessing was last recited on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 (14th of Nisan 5769), and the next time will be on April 8, 2037 (23rd of Nisan 5797).
