New Year's Eve - Celebration or Reflection?

Would you attend a celebration honoring someone who saw the destruction of Jews as a life goal? Certainly, you wouldn't join a church festival commemorating the Inquisition!

#VALUE!

Do you get angry when neo-Nazis celebrate Hitler's birthday? Then why take part in New Year's Eve celebrations? Sylvester was one of the greatest enemies of the Jews throughout history! Historically, participants in these celebrations would often follow them with small pogroms in Jewish ghettos.

Sure, you might only go to the party to enjoy yourself, but are you unintentionally contributing to whitewashing the image of this hate-monger, and also strengthening the current haters of Jews? We've found it important to present a few facts commonly available in encyclopedias under "Sylvester," so you, the reader, have the right knowledge and choice about what is right. This information is collected and published by the organization "Arachim."

Did you know that the "Sylvester" celebration is in memory of "Pope Sylvester I" during the time of Emperor Constantine (314-335)? Did you know that Pope Sylvester was considered the greatest persecutor of Judaism in his time? He spread Christianity with brutality, sword, and mass killings of Jews throughout the Roman Empire.

Did you know that the Jew-hating Sylvester received the "Edict of Milan" from Emperor Constantine, granting special rights to Christians across the Roman Empire, thus making the church the state church? Under Sylvester's leadership, the church enacted devilish laws against Jews, stripping them of all civil rights.

Did you know those laws, which persisted for many generations even after the Roman Empire's fall, spread worldwide and became the basis for the persecution of Jews during the Inquisition, pogroms, and other atrocities? Did you know that Sylvester Day was a regular occasion for pogroms and murder against Jews in Christian tradition? For instance, on the night of December 31, 1400, during the Christians' New Year's Eve wine celebrations, the first organized pogrom against Jews occurred.

Simultaneous pogroms broke out in cities in England, France, and Germany. Did you know that on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1941, German soldiers murdered in one night over 600 Jews, including women, the elderly, and children in Warsaw to "celebrate the holiday" of Sylvester? Did you know that on the night of December 31, 1942, the extermination machines in Auschwitz operated at a more frenzied pace than usual, and to the celebrators' delight, thousands of Jews were mercilessly destroyed (see testimonies from the Eichmann trial)? Yet, the Pope in Rome blessed his followers for New Year's.

The "enlightened" world carried on as usual, with the victims' cries swallowed by the cheers of the drunk celebrators of New Year's Eve. Did you know that Sylvester Day is an explicitly religious Christian day with pagan character? Adopting this day insults the memory of Jews of past generations who gave their lives in its observance.
