Saving Tips: Cooking Gas
Looking to save on your gas bills? It's easier than you think. Reduce your gas expenses with some straightforward steps, leading to significant financial savings.

1. Know - It's Possible. Gas seems like an unchangeable expense, but you can actually reduce your bill with a few simple actions. Overall, this results in significant savings.
2. Compare Prices. Different gas companies charge varying rates for consumption. An identical amount of gas might cost 190 shekels with one company and only 100 shekels with another. So, it's highly recommended to inquire and compare prices. Also, mentioning the possibility of cancellation might get you a special price reduction. Additionally, compare the fixed service fee (similar to a subscription fee), as differences here could be significant. Gas prices are quite competitive nowadays, and while the gas quality itself doesn't vary, service quality might, making prices quite flexible.
3. Pay by Standing Order. Many gas companies offer significant discounts for customers who pay by standing order. If you choose this option, it's better to use a credit card rather than a bank account to avoid fees.
4. Switch if Necessary. If attempts to cut costs fail, you can switch to another gas company, provided you obtain agreement from at least 51% of the building's residents. Switching should be relatively simple, ensuring the previous deposit transfers to the new company. During the transition, the new gas company will replace the old gas pipes at no cost and perform a comprehensive safety check.
5. Save During Cooking. You can save gas while cooking, too. For example, when boiling a kettle for tea, fill it only with the amount needed. There's no need to heat a full kettle for a single cup. When cooking hard-boiled eggs, turn off the gas 10 minutes early and let them cook in the hot water.
