Regarding the quantity required to necessitate a final blessing (from "Halacha Yomit" based on the rulings of Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt"l):

For anything a person eats, they must say an "initial blessing," such as "Shehakol" or "Ha'etz." Even if they only eat a small amount, they are required to bless it, provided they are eating for consumption. (However, if they are only tasting for seasoning or similar reasons, no blessing is required for this tasting.) Therefore, someone chewing flavored gum, even if they swallow very little, must still bless the enjoyment of the flavor. The same applies to drinking; a blessing is needed even if only a drop is consumed.

All this pertains specifically to the initial blessing. However, a final blessing is only made when one consumes an "important" amount, defined as the volume of an "olive," which is approximately twenty-seven grams. For drinking, the measure is a "revi'it," which is eighty-one grams.

Furthermore, the eating or drinking must take place within the timeframe that allows the consumption to be considered concurrent. For instance, if a person eats an "olive" amount of bread over an entire day, piece by piece, they cannot bless afterwards. The consumption must be within the timeframe of "Akhilat Pras." There is disagreement among the sages on the duration: some say it is five minutes, while others say around seven and a half minutes (and there are other opinions). It is advisable to always consume the "olive" measure (especially during Shabbat meals) within four and a half minutes to accommodate all opinions.

For the final blessing on a drink, one must consume a revi'it (eighty-one grams) in one sitting, as an interruption between sips negates the need for a final blessing. Hence, sipping soup with a spoon does not require a final blessing, as the requisite volume is not consumed in one go. Similarly, hot coffee or tea does not warrant a final blessing because it cannot be drunk in one sitting.
