Eating quantity required to recite a final blessing (from "Daily Halacha" based on the rulings of the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef):

For everything a person eats, a "first blessing" is required, such as the "Shehakol" or "Ha'etz" blessing. Even if only a small amount is consumed, a blessing is required if it's eaten for enjoyment. (However, if it is only tasted to improve it with spices, etc., no blessing is required). Therefore, someone chewing flavored gum must bless for the taste of the gum, even if it's a small amount. Similarly, any drink requires a blessing, even if it's just a single drop.

This applies specifically to the initial blessing. For a final blessing, it is only recited if an "important eating" has occurred, defined as eating the volume of an olive, which is 27 grams, and for drinking, the volume of a revi'it, which is 81 grams.

Additionally, the eating or drinking must take place within a certain time so that the consumption can be considered as one event. If someone eats an olive's volume of bread throughout an entire day, piece by piece, they cannot recite Birkat Hamazon afterward. The consumption of an olive volume must occur within the time known as "Kedei Achilat Pras," about which there is some debate. Some say it's five minutes, while others say about seven and a half minutes (and there are other opinions). Thus, it's advisable to consume an olive size within four and a half minutes to satisfy all opinions, especially during Shabbat meals.

For the final blessing on a drink, one must consume a revi'it (81 grams) at once. If there is a pause between sips, no final blessing is made. Therefore, someone sipping soup with a spoon does not recite a final blessing, as they did not drink a revi'it at once, and similarly, someone drinking hot coffee or tea doesn’t recite a final blessing because they can't drink it all at once.
