The amount to eat to be obligated in the final blessing (from "Daily Halacha" from the rulings of Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef of blessed memory):

For everything a person eats, they must recite a "first blessing" on it, such as the blessing "Shehakol" or "Ha'etz". Even if one eats only a small amount of the food, they are obligated to bless, as long as they are consuming it for eating purposes. (However, if one only tastes the food to improve it by adding spices or similar, no blessing is recited at all). Therefore, one who chews flavored gum, even if they swallow only a small portion, must still bless the enjoyment of its taste. Similarly, if someone drinks something, they need to bless even if they are only drinking one drop of that beverage.

However, all this concerns the first blessing, but a final blessing is only recited when one has eaten a "significant eating", the measure of which is a "kezayit", which is approximately twenty-seven grams, and in drinking, the measure is a "revi'it", which is eighty-one grams.

Additionally, the eating or drinking should occur within a time frame that allows it to be considered as a single joined act. For if a person eats a kezayit of bread throughout an entire day, piece by piece, they certainly cannot bless the Grace After Meals afterward. Instead, the eating of a kezayit must all occur within the time called "eating a pras". The authorities differ on this time measure, some say it is approximately five minutes, while others say about seven and a half minutes (and other opinions exist). Therefore, it is advisable to always eat an amount of a kezayit (especially during Shabbat meals) within four and a half minutes to fulfill all opinions.

Regarding the final blessing on a drink, one must drink a revi'it of the beverage (which is eighty-one grams) in one go, as if one drinks and pauses between sips, they do not recite a final blessing at all. Therefore, someone who drinks soup with a spoon does not bless afterward for drinking that soup, since they didn’t drink a revi'it all at once. Similarly, those who drink coffee or tea when it is hot do not recite a final blessing on them, because they cannot drink them all at once.
