Lachmagine, the well-known Middle Eastern pastry, can become a simple and quick dish when reduced to only three ingredients. This dish is perfect for those who want to enjoy authentic flavors with minimal effort.

Ingredients (for 4 Lachmagine units):

  1. Ready-made dough for pizza or thin pita (4 units): You can use store-bought pizza dough, Iraqi pita, or a thin tortilla.
  2. Ready-made tomato sauce: Pizza sauce, seasoned crushed tomatoes, or natural tomato sauce.
  3. Seasoned ground meat: Chicken, beef, or lamb, pre-seasoned with salt, pepper, and a pinch of paprika or cumin.

 

Preparation Method:

  1. Preparing the Base:
    Place the prepared dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If you're using pita, cut it in half to get a thinner base.

  2. Spreading the Sauce:
    Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the dough. Try not to spread too much to avoid making the dough soggy.

  3. Adding the Meat:
    Sprinkle an even layer of the seasoned ground meat over the sauce. Press the meat slightly into the sauce so it sticks well.

  4. Baking:
    Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and bake the lachmagine for 10-12 minutes, or until the meat is cooked and the dough is crisp and golden.
