#VALUE!
Mountains are the "folds" of the earth, the towering landscapes on the land we live. We all recognize some famous mountains, both domestically and internationally, but here we're highlighting a few particularly fascinating ones.
The Highest Peak
You probably know the first item on our list: Mount Everest. Situated in the Himalayas, between Nepal and China, most of it is in Tibet. The Himalayas boast the tallest mountain range globally, dominated by Everest. Its height is 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) above sea level.
For comparison, the highest mountain in Israel is Mount Hermon, which stands at 2,814 meters (9,232 feet).
The Shiny Summit
Mount Kilimanjaro stands out, unlike most mountains that are part of ranges; Kilimanjaro rises alone in a mostly flat region. It is Africa's highest peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) and, despite its proximity to the equator, the summit remains snow-covered year-round due to its height.
Mountain or Table?
In South Africa lies one of the most intriguing mountains – "Table Mountain". It earned its name because its summit is flat as a table. The top spans about three kilometers (1.86 miles) across and is 1,086 meters (3,563 feet) above sea level. Climbers can enjoy stunning views of Cape Town, the Cape of Good Hope, and the Atlantic Ocean from the top.
The Rainbow Mountains
Most mountains have earthy tones with occasional greenery. However, China’s Rainbow Mountains are the most colorful you’ll find. Located in northern China along the Silk Road, they look as if an artist poured endless bottles of colored sand over them. These mountains display stripes of vivid hues. Other colorful mountains exist globally, but they typically have one dominant hue – while the Rainbow Mountains feature dozens of different shades.
