In the modern-day rat race, where we're always busy with work, studies, family, and hobbies, it's sometimes difficult to find time for a regular Torah class. However, Torah study is a central principle in Jewish life, and there are flexible and creative ways of incorporating it every day, even when it might seem that there's no time. So how can you study Torah even when your schedule is packed?

Torah when time's short

Even if you have only five minutes a day, you can study Torah! Every day you can dedicate time to reading a short chapter of Psalms or studying the weekly Torah portion. Even a few minutes of daily study can be an opportunity to connect with the light of Torah and meaningfully impact your day.

Torah study via technology

In the digital age, technology can be an excellent tool for integrating Torah study into daily life. There are dozens of apps that offer short lessons that can be listened to anywhere, anytime. Listening to Torah classes on podcasts or watching online classes during commutes or work breaks allows you to stay connected to Torah without needing to change your routine.

Learning Torah with your children

Parents can turn Torah study into a family experience. Parents can recite Psalms with their children or learn the weekly Torah portion with them, and this can enhance family time and turn it into an opportunity for spiritual education. This way, parents get to study Torah and children share in the experience.

Two daily halachot

The Gemara tells us that, "Anyone who studies halachot every day is guaranteed a place in the World to Come..." (Niddah 73a).

One simple way to incorporate Torah study into one's daily routine is to join one of the many online programs for studying two halachot per day. Although this doesn't sound like much, over time it will have a significant impact. The knowledge accumulated not only enriches the person but also brings blessing to their life.

Learning at the Shabbat table

The Shabbat table provides an excellent opportunity to incorporate brief and valuable Torah learning. You can study the weekly Torah portion, discuss Shabbat laws, or start a conversation about Torah or ethical topics. The Shabbat table offers an opportunity to discuss topics that enrich the entire family.

Study in your area of interest

Studying Torah according to your area of interest can make learning more enjoyable. Whether it's Jewish law, ethics, or the weekly Torah portion, when we choose a topic that speaks to us, learning becomes personal and meaningful. Everyone can focus on the area that interests them, even with limited time.

Although modern life may feel extremely busy, there are many ways to incorporate Torah into our lives. Even if we can only find a few moments here and there, the time we set aside is significant and adds a spiritual dimension to our lives. Each small step connects us more to the light of Torah and strengthens our spirituality and faith, for ourselves and our families.
