AA

Anyone who's experienced a toothache knows how it can throw your whole day off. Pain relievers don't always work, but there are some natural remedies that might help you until your next dentist appointment:

Salt Water

Mix a cup of lukewarm water (after boiling) with a teaspoon of salt. Take a big sip and swish it around in your mouth for about 30 seconds. Spit it out and repeat the process several times.

Garlic

Dip a slice of garlic in salt and place it on the tooth. You can also make a paste from crushed garlic and salt and apply it to the aching tooth.

Clove

Place a clove on the aching tooth and press between your teeth. Don't swallow it, but you may chew gently to release the active compounds in it.

Black Pepper

Black pepper is a natural pain reliever. Take a peppercorn, wrap it in a piece of thin cloth, place it on the aching tooth, and close your mouth. Don't chew the peppercorn; just let it sit and release its healing properties.
Onion

Place a bit of onion on the aching tooth or grate it and apply the resulting paste to speed up relief.

Lemon

Rinse your mouth with lemon and chew a slice of lemon dipped in salt. The combination will greatly help alleviate the pain.

Herbal Tea
Make a concentrated brew with mint/ chamomile/ sage/ cinnamon in hot water. Once it's cooled a bit, swish it well in your mouth. You can also apply a cotton ball soaked in the brew to the painful area.

Olive Oil

If the pain is in your gums, even for teething babies, you can take a little olive oil and gently massage the area.
