Eczema is a form of skin inflammation that can appear in different areas and look different for each person. Fungal infections often show up as red, itchy patches, blisters, or peeling skin. Both can cause a great deal of discomfort and irritation. According to traditional Jewish health teachings, especially the wisdom of the Rambam (Maimonides), many skin issues are the result of the body trying to expel excess waste. In people with sensitive skin, this waste is often released through the skin, leading to conditions like eczema and fungal infections.
The first step in healing is through proper nutrition. Eating clean and healthy foods helps reduce the amount of waste in the body and supports overall healing. This approach can be especially helpful in relieving chronic skin issues.
Blueberries are an excellent food to include. They’re rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and powerful antioxidants that support healing from eczema, fungal infections, and other inflammation-related conditions.
Drinking freshly squeezed lemon juice in warm water on an empty stomach each morning helps purify the blood and flush out waste, which in turn improves skin health. You can also apply lemon juice mixed with water to a soft cloth and use it as a gentle compress on the affected area. This supports healing from the outside in.
There are also several natural treatments you can use directly on the skin:
Almond oil can be gently rubbed onto areas affected by eczema or fungal infections to calm and soothe the skin.
Coconut oil is another healing option. It helps reduce irritation and has natural moisturizing properties.
A traditional remedy involves chopping an onion into small pieces, gently frying it in olive oil, allowing it to cool, and then applying it to areas of eczema. This may sound unusual, but many have found it helpful.
If the eczema or fungal infection is more widespread, soaking in a warm bath with almond leaves can bring relief. Stay in the bath for at least half an hour to allow the healing properties to take effect.
An oatmeal bath is also very soothing and helps reduce itching and pain. Just add finely ground oats to your bathwater and relax.
One of the most effective traditional remedies is apple cider vinegar. Add one cup of it to every liter of warm water and soak the irritated area. You can also dab a little directly on the skin up to three times a day until things improve.
It’s important to wear loose, breathable clothing made of natural fabrics. For eczema or fungal issues on the feet, make sure to wash and dry your feet carefully and let them “breathe” often and avoid keeping them in tight or moist shoes for too long.
To your health and healing!
