What would you rather give your child? A corn snack filled with harmful additives and stimulants, or a healthy organic apple? Both cost around $0.50.
Many people avoid organic food, claiming it's too expensive. But is it really? A typical family's monthly budget often includes spending on sweets, snacks, harmful dairy products, and various meats. If people chose to spend their money on natural, high-quality foods (whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, and almonds) and organic options that are free of toxins and as delicious as they used to be, they might find they're not over budget. They'd likely be more satisfied, healthier, leaner, and spend less time worrying about food. There's inspiration in the Book of Genesis, reflecting this as Hashem's wish at least until Noah's time: "And Hashem said, 'See, I have given you every seed-bearing plant across the earth and every tree with seed-bearing fruit. They will be yours for food.'" (Genesis 1:29).
Seed = grains, legumes, vegetables.
Fruit of the tree = fruits, nuts, almonds.
If you emphasize buying organic, wholesome foods like in the past, chances are you'll reduce most visits to doctors, dietitians, and even dentists. Yes, it requires giving up cravings and habits for other foods, like junk food, but the benefits are immense!
If you wish to enjoy meat and fish, go ahead. Meat was permitted for consumption after the flood in Noah's time. But where is it written that it needs to be consumed daily, as many families and institutional cafeterias do? These are expensive foods, and it's not suitable for everyone to include them in their daily diet. Use them sparingly, and opt for plant-based foods whenever possible.
