A recent report published in the Times of India raises important questions about the recommended daily egg consumption. According to various nutrition findings, despite their high nutritional value as sources of protein, vitamins, and minerals, consuming too many eggs may pose significant health risks.

Studies have shown that excessive egg consumption may increase the risk of heart disease due to the cholesterol and saturated fats they contain. Other symptoms that might arise from increased consumption include various digestive issues, such as bloating, gas, diarrhea, and even stomach pain.

The report also warns about the long-term impacts of excessive egg consumption on blood lipid levels. However, it emphasizes that when eaten in controlled and balanced amounts, eggs have many health benefits. They provide high-quality protein beneficial for prolonged satiety and contain essential vitamins for brain and nervous system function, including choline, which aids cognitive function and heart disease prevention.

Additionally, components like lutein and zeaxanthin found in eggs help maintain eye health and prevent macular degeneration. Other vitamins, such as A and B12, along with minerals like selenium, support the immune system and contribute to healthy skin and hair.

As for the recommended amount, experts suggest daily consumption of one egg as part of a healthy diet, or up to seven eggs per week.
