Many of us tend to avoid certain foods, often with good reason, as they contain high amounts of sugar or other processed ingredients. However, sometimes we simply get it wrong.
In an interview with Dr. Steven Dahmer, director of a medical center in Arizona, he reveals six such foods—including chocolate and eggs—that can be beneficial for your health. Here is the list:
1. Potatoes
A 100-gram serving of steamed potatoes contains just 100 calories, with no fat, sodium, cholesterol, or gluten. It provides half the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C, as well as potassium, dietary fiber, and even antioxidants and Vitamin B6.
Regarding calories, if you don't turn them into fries, the caloric value remains fairly low. What's wrong with a bit of energy?

2. Eggs
Despite their high cholesterol content, eggs contain 13 essential vitamins and minerals and are, of course, a great source of muscle-building protein.
An egg contains only 72 calories. A large egg has about 186 milligrams of cholesterol, so it's best not to consume more than one egg a day.

3. Butter
Even this often-criticized food has a positive side. "Butter and cheese are rich in probiotics, which support gut health and immune function," the expert notes. He adds that cheese contains Vitamin B12 and phosphorus. Researchers suggest that quality cheese can reduce levels of bad cholesterol and lower the risk of stroke.

4. Milk
Provides the body with high-quality proteins, calcium, Vitamin A, and Vitamin B12.

5. Chocolate
Chocolate with a high cocoa percentage is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants, effectively reducing inflammation.

6. Coffee
According to the expert, when consumed appropriately, up to four cups a day, coffee can work wonders for the body. It is packed with antioxidants and reduces the risk of several diseases, including Alzheimer's, heart disease, and diabetes.
