American presenter Dr. Michael Mosley, known for developing diet plans that incorporate intermittent fasting, claims in an interview with the New York Post that there are five foods that, if included in your diet, could help you achieve long-term weight loss and a healthier body.

1. Have You Considered Broccoli and Eggplant?

There are certain vegetables you must regularly include in your diet, according to the doctor. These include broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, cucumber, and eggplant. He claims, "They contain significant amounts of essential vitamins and components that have been proven to lower bad cholesterol and reduce the risk of diabetes." He also stated that these vegetables aid in better food digestion and need not be counted in your daily calorie intake.

2. Dairy Products

Though not all studies agree, Dr. Mosley believes that dairy is essential for the body, provided it's full-fat, as it contains higher-quality nutritional elements than low-fat versions. "Full-fat dairy has more essential fatty acids like omega-3, higher levels of protein, vitamin B-12, and iodine which also reduce anxiety and depression while improving metabolism," he said. This contradicts the American Health Department's guidelines, which advocate for low-fat milk.

3. Olive Oil

According to the doctor, olive oil is the best fat, containing anti-inflammatory compounds, fatty acids, and even omega. Previous studies have shown that regular consumption of this oil lowers the risk of depression and supports gut health. Additionally, it reduces the chances of heart disease and can help lower blood pressure.

A study conducted in the US about two years ago found that those who consume half a tablespoon of olive oil a day have nearly a 20% lower chance of mortality compared to those who do not.

4. Eating Fish? How About Meat?

"A diet rich in lean proteins offers many health benefits," said the doctor. "It reduces hunger, lowers blood pressure, helps manage weight, and more. Lean protein is overall great for bone health."

5. Almonds and Nuts

According to the expert, these nuts contain numerous nutrients, and their fat content is beneficial for the body. Besides regular almonds and nuts, he also highlights cashews, despite their high-fat content. Furthermore, he recommends consuming them in their natural form, without additives like salt.
