As we all know, the supplement market is one of the most profitable and talked-about industries in the world today. With so many types available in health stores, the question is: What should you choose? Gels, capsules, tablets, powders, or liquids? It's crucial to check a supplement's absorption level for better therapeutic effects and ensure it's as free as possible from stabilizers and preservatives. Let's start with the less desirable options:

1. Gel and gummy candies - On the one hand, these are user-friendly for kids because of their appearance and taste, with sugar as a better option than artificial sweeteners found in other supplements. On the other hand, they may contain preservatives, which are unnecessary and unhealthy.

2. Tablets (compressed pills) - While they are inexpensive and have a longer shelf life, they can be large and difficult to swallow, irritate the digestive system, and may absorb slower in some individuals. Additionally, some tablets are destroyed by stomach acid. They have a hard coating, and their fillers might prevent good absorption in the digestive system.

3. Capsules (powder in a dissolvable shell) - These tend to absorb more easily than tablets and have a longer shelf life due to added stabilizers (though it's unclear if those are beneficial). However, the outer shell can act as a barrier to absorption.

4. Powder - Easy to absorb, but requires mixing with additional food, which can be cumbersome for the less motivated.

5. Liquid supplements - Easily absorbed by everyone with immediate effects due to their nearly 100% absorption rate compared to tablets/capsules, which only reach up to 20%. However, liquid supplements are sensitive and prone to oxidation, spoilage, and require cooling and darkness. They also contain flavorings and/or artificial sweeteners that aren't healthy.

In conclusion: Each supplement type has its pros and cons. However, every year new manufacturing technologies are developed, making it hard to keep up with all the changes. Ask in health food stores, especially consult naturopaths who have studied and are experienced in the field. The information is accessible to everyone. Good health to all.
