It’s most comfortable to switch to flip-flops during the warm summer months, but according to a foot health expert, this switch is not recommended, as these shoes might lead to unpleasant injuries.

Paul McAuley, a well-known podiatrist from Singapore, shared a warning on TikTok about the use of flip-flops, which are especially popular during the summer season.

McAuley explained to The Post that flip-flops can lead to serious injuries and should be avoided.

Serious Foot Problems

According to McAuley, most people in Asia wear flip-flops, and these can cause severe foot problems due to biomechanical imbalances, such as foot inflammation and inflammation of the posterior shin tendon.

He also explained in his video that flip-flops are not safe for long-term wear. When your foot attempts to grip the shoe, the toes can become rigid, and once this occurs, it's difficult for them to return to their normal state.

McAuley concludes that flip-flops can be worn for appropriate activities like walking on a sandy beach, but if you're planning to walk in them all day, it's best to avoid them.
