#VALUE!
Brushing your teeth twice a day, visiting your dentist regularly, and using dental floss are excellent practices, but there's more you need to know. Certain foods can lead to plaque buildup, gum disease, and other dental problems, so it’s crucial to limit their consumption:
Sour Gummies
Not only do sour gummies stick to teeth, but they also contain acids that harm dental health.
Apples
Apples have high acidity levels that can damage your teeth. It’s a good idea to drink a glass of water after eating them.
Also, eating large chunks of apples (similar to other hard fruits and vegetables) could crack your teeth, so make an effort to cut them into smaller pieces.
Gum
Excessive gum chewing can wear down enamel and sometimes causes cumulative damage to the jaw joint.
Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef - Do we bless upon chewing gum?
Ice
Chewing ice can harm teeth and chip them at best, or lead to crown loss at worst.
Citrus Fruits
Citrus fruits are highly acidic and contribute to enamel erosion. It’s a good idea to rinse your mouth after consuming them.
Popcorn
Apart from sticking to teeth, you have to watch out for popcorn kernels, as chewing them can wear down the enamel layer.
Bread
White bread sticks between teeth. When chewed, saliva breaks down the starches into sugar, leading to cavities. Whole grain bread contains less sugar and is a better choice than white bread.
Diet Sodas
Sweet drinks, even diet ones without sugar, can harm teeth due to their high acidity.
Rabbi Avraham Yosef - Is it permissible to brush teeth on Shabbat?
Carbonated Drinks
Frequent consumption of carbonated drinks can harm teeth by allowing plaque to produce more acid, damaging enamel.
Potato Snacks
Potato snacks are starch-rich and turn into sugar. Bacteria can thrive as chips get stuck between teeth.
