How often do you wash your hair? Is it with warm or cold water? Let's see what the expert has to say.
Dr. Amir Khan, a hair health specialist, emphasizes the importance of proper hair care, recommending these guidelines to prevent hair loss and enhance the look of your hair.
In his comments to the 'Daily Express', he noted that we have about 100,000 hairs on our heads, with 50-100 hairs shedding daily. Typically, we don't notice this as there is natural regrowth. However, it can be bothersome for some.
Watch for signs of hair loss such as bald spots, itching, and scalp inflammation. All these symptoms suggest a hair loss process.
Additionally, consider that hormones also play a part in hair loss.
Hair Care Guidelines
Dr. Khan explains that the way you wash your hair is crucial to prevent the process. He suggests simple actions we can all take:
1. Frequency
Pay attention to how often you wash your hair. Washing too frequently can strip your hair of its natural protective oils. According to his recommendation, there's no need to wash your hair more than 2 or 3 times a week.
2. Water Temperature
Dr. Khan believes lukewarm water can benefit the appearance of your hair, explaining that neither too hot nor too cold is necessary, as both extremes can weaken and damage your hair.
3. Minimize Chemicals
Additionally, to maintain the shiny look of your hair, it's advisable to reduce the use of chemicals and hair dryers as much as possible.
