#VALUE!
Who doesn't dislike washing dishes? Well, here's a study that might just change your mind:
According to research from the University of Florida, washing dishes can improve brain function and reduce stress levels.
The study involved 51 students divided into two groups. The first group was instructed to focus on the present moment while washing dishes—a mindfulness technique. They were asked to pay attention to the sensations and emotions arising during the task, fully aware that they were washing dishes. In contrast, the second group received no special instructions.
What About Other Household Chores?
After dishwashing, results showed a 27% decrease in stress and a 25% increase in inspiration and creativity for the group given special instructions, while the second group showed no significant changes.
Researchers claim dishwashing becomes a calming activity by applying mindfulness techniques: focusing on the scent of the soap, the touch of the dishes, and the warm water.
Although this research focused on dishwashing, it's possible this technique could be effective for other household chores. Give it a try, and let us know your results.
