Kitchen Essentials: 5 Must-Have Pantry Items
Shopping this week? Don't forget these essential pantry staples. If you've already shopped, keep this list handy for next time.

It's never fun to find yourself without food items, especially when you're hungry and the fridge is empty. That's why we've prepared a list of 5 essential pantry staples to keep hunger at bay:
1. Potatoes
Potatoes are a must-have in every home. You can use them to make fries, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, and so many other delicious and varied dishes. Don't leave them behind.
2. Tomato Paste
This is a go-to solution for any meal. Use tomato paste for sauces—pasta sauce, fish sauce, and other dishes that can be wonderfully enhanced by it.
3. Eggs
How can you go without eggs in the fridge? In just a few minutes, you have a quick meal ready—omelet, egg salad, or hard-boiled eggs.
4. Onions
Who doesn't have onions at home, raise your hand. It's likely a basic pantry item. Useful for salad, soup, or pasta, and really, any dish gains a special flavor thanks to onions.
5. Bread
You should always have bread available in the freezer. Pita, rolls, or regular bread, all accepted. Especially if you're in a hurry to head out. Just spread something on it, and you're set to go.
6. Chocolate Bar
We're not always truly hungry, sometimes we just crave something sweet. Hence, it's helpful to have a bar of chocolate within reach. Don't overdo it, of course, but treat yourself to a square or two from time to time.
