Find out what happens to tomatoes in the fridge and how to ripen avocados best. Here are 7 foods better left out of the fridge and why:
1. Bread
Storing bread in the fridge isn't advisable because it dries out quickly. It's best to keep it in a box or freeze it.

2. Honey
Refrigerating honey can make it harden. If you prefer smooth, spreadable honey, keep it in a cool, dry place outside the fridge.

3. Tomatoes
Keep tomatoes out of the fridge in a spot away from direct sunlight to ripen properly. The cold can lead to a mealy texture and loss of flavor.

4. Avocado
Cold temperatures don't suit avocados, which need room temperature to ripen properly.

5. Onions
Storing onions in the fridge can lead to mold due to excess moisture. To keep them fresh, place onions in a dry, dark, and ventilated area. Keep them away from potatoes, which can cause spoilage by releasing gases.

6. Garlic
Moisture in the fridge can cause garlic cloves to develop mold. The best place to store garlic is in a pantry or cabinet, in a cool and dark area.

7. Potatoes
Potatoes don't belong in the fridge. The starch can turn into sugar, altering their texture. Store potatoes in a cool, well-ventilated area.
