Sapir Bloch, widow of Yedidya Bloch hy"d, who fell in the battles in Lebanon, gave birth yesterday (Tuesday) to a firstborn son.
The family updated that "both the brave mother and the newborn are doing well."
Bloch hy"d, 31 from Mevo Horon, was a soldier in Brigade 55. He was seriously injured in southern Lebanon on Simchat Torah, and died from his injuries a week later. The serious injury occurred when the company went out on one last raid, during which the force was ambushed by terrorists. After about half an hour of intense fighting during which Yedidya covered and supported the rest of the force, he was hit by a bullet that penetrated his head.
He left behind his wife Sapir, who was eight months pregnant, as well as parents and seven siblings.
His family and friends said that Yedidya was "a lover of the land, exploring it length and breadth. Yedidya, a friend to all. He never judged anyone and managed to connect with everyone around him, from all walks of life."
They also added that Yedidya "smiled at everyone and gave everyone his attention. With a wise heart to connect and unite people, and be close with his family, he had a big heart and was happy to help everyone willingly. He was a beloved uncle, admired by all his nephews and nieces."
