Many stories online recount people who have died, been reborn in a new body, yet remember their past identities. In Judaism, the phenomenon of reincarnation is given considerable attention. Therefore, it might not surprise many of you to hear the following story.
It all began when the mother of Luke Ruhlman, a five-year-old from Ohio, started noticing the bizarre stories her son was telling. Initially, she assumed Luke, like other imaginative children his age, was spinning fanciful tales that had no basis in reality.

But after choosing to 'play along' and explore the world of 'Pam' - the mysterious identity her son spoke of - she was amazed to find there's more to the story. Luke referred to all his toys as 'Pam' and would frequently say things like, "When I was a girl, I had black hair" and "Back when I was Pam, I had earrings like that."
When these statements became consistent, the concerned mother began interviewing her son, and this is what Luke told her: Pam was a 30-year-old Black woman who jumped to her death from a burning building in Chicago. And he, her son Luke, was born to them after Pam's soul went up to the heavens, met Hashem, and was sent back down to earth, to them. "You gave me the name Luke, but actually, I am Pam," little Luke stated.
The revelations unsettled Erica, so she decided to search for this mysterious 'Pam' online. And guess what she found? The name Pamela Robinson appeared on her screen, a young Black woman who died in the 1993 fire at the Paxton Hotel in Chicago.
Following the shocking discovery, Luke and his mother were interviewed last week on an American TV show that investigates and broadcasts verified parapsychological and supernatural cases. During the program, the host showed Luke multiple photos of women who resembled Pam. Luke immediately identified the correct woman, Pamela Robinson, and said, "I remember when that picture was taken."
Before the show, Erica contacted Pamela Robinson's family and was surprised to learn that Luke and Pam shared the exact same hobbies. Although Robinson's family declined to be interviewed or participate in the show, they agreed to maintain regular contact with Luke and his family.
So what's happening with Luke now? Interestingly, Erica is currently speaking to the media, announcing that Luke no longer 'takes an interest' in Pam like he used to, and that he probably needed all this exposure to release and let her spirit go. "He's moved on. But we want as many people as possible to hear Luke's story because it carries a positive message of unity and love, for everyone," Erica concluded.
