A Dream Beyond: An Unforgettable Connection Through Tefillin

Reb Berle Levitan, a Chabad hasid living in Lod, has been setting up a Friday tefillin stand in Ramla's industrial area for 10 years to give Jews the opportunity to put on tefillin.

"On Friday afternoon, I set aside all my obligations - shopping, cooking - to dedicate time for helping Jews put on tefillin. I bring a folding table and two sets of tefillin, offering them to passersby," he shares with 'Charedim 10'.

Last Friday, Berle was part of a profoundly moving story of divine providence: "I approached an older Jewish man in his 70s, asking if he wanted to put on tefillin. He started to cry and asked me, 'Will you help me?' I answered, 'Of course, that's why I'm here.'"

Berle continues to share that the man put on tefillin while crying heavily during the recital of the Jewish blessing, 'Shema Yisrael'. Afterward, he explained to Berle that Friday was the yahrzeit, the anniversary of his father's passing: "Today - Friday - is my father's yahrzeit, and last night he appeared to me in a dream, telling me, 'Do something Jewish for me, put on tefillin in my honor.'"

"I told him," the son recounted, "that I hadn't put on tefillin in many years and didn't remember how. My father told me, 'Don’t worry, someone will help you.' And here you are to help me!"

"He cried the whole time, and as soon as he finished, he disappeared into the market. I didn’t have much to say to him; I was at a loss for words. After he left, I shed a tear," Berle concludes his story.
