What Is a Waterfall?
A waterfall forms when a river flows from a high place and suddenly drops to a much lower level. This happens when the river reaches a spot where the rock changes, hard rock above and soft rock below. The water breaks through the softer rock, and the river drops down, creating a beautiful waterfall.
In some places, waterfalls are also created because of natural cracks in the Earth, known as tectonic fractures. Besides being beautiful to look at, waterfalls have very strong flowing water. This powerful flow can be used to spin turbines and produce electricity.
How Was the Telephone Invented?
Many people dreamed of a way to talk to someone far away. The one who succeeded in making the first working telephone was Alexander Graham Bell. He wasn’t only an inventor, he also taught people who were deaf and knew a lot about how the human ear works. This helped him design the first telephone.
At first, Bell tried to sell his idea to a telegraph company, but they said no. So he started his own company, the Bell Company, which later helped bring telephones to people all over the world.
Where Is the Deepest Freshwater Lake in the World?
The deepest freshwater lake in the world is Lake Baikal, located in southern Siberia, Russia. In the winter, parts of it freeze so much that people can walk or drive on top of the ice.
The lake’s average depth is 758 meters, but at its deepest point, it reaches 1,637 meters. That’s deeper than most oceans near the shore! Lake Baikal is so large and deep that it holds about 20 percent of all the world’s freshwater.
