A two-year-old girl was taken to the emergency room after being mistakenly served an alcoholic drink instead of apple juice at a restaurant.
The Hollister family, residing in California, were enjoying a family dinner at a local restaurant. The parents ordered apple juice for their two-year-old daughter, but when she started acting strangely, they realized she had been accidentally given wine and rushed her to the ER.
The wine was served in a cup with a lid. Naomi, the girl's mother, explained, "She was stumbling, she fell, she leaned against walls, she couldn't hold her head up, she was babbling," prompting the parents to open the lid and detect the smell of alcohol.
When the toddler arrived at the ER, tests revealed her blood alcohol level was alarmingly high at 0.12. Speaking to CNN, the restaurant's manager mentioned that the wine had been stored in a large container mistakenly labeled as 'apple juice.'
The incident is currently under police investigation, but the toddler's mother urged, "Take proper precautions and ensure you're storing things correctly to prevent this from happening to anyone else."
The child has made a full recovery since the ordeal, and her parents are grateful that the situation wasn't worse. "Parents, taste what's being served to your kids," they advised.
