Our bedroom is a sanctuary in the home: we want to feel great when we go to sleep, which is why creating a calm and inviting atmosphere is essential. If you want your room to feel like a boutique hotel, there are a few tips that can help. First, avoid turning it into a "laundry room," and second, try incorporating white sheets made of high-quality fabric, which will turn your bedroom into a soft and cozy haven.

The challenge with white sheets is maintaining their whiteness over time. Laundry expert Hyacinth Tucker shared a tip that can help. Tucker told The Focus that there's no point in using chemical cleaners or stain removers. According to her, the secret to whiter sheets is a natural product commonly found in our kitchens: lemon. "Using lemon juice to whiten your sheets is one of my favorite tricks. Lemons are full of acid that breaks down stains and whitens fabrics without harsh chemicals," she said.

It turns out that white bed linens can yellow due to natural body oils and sweat absorbed by the fibers during sleep. The trick involves using 3-4 fresh lemons, water, and a basin for soaking the sheets. Here’s what you do:

First, squeeze the lemon juice into the basin (include the peels), then fill the basin with hot water and mix. The next step is to immerse the sheets in the lemon water until they're completely soaked. After soaking for an hour (or overnight for stubborn stains), put the sheets in the washing machine and add half a cup of baking soda in addition to your regular detergent for extra whitening. Finally, hang the sheets to dry in the sun, as sunlight will enhance the whitening effect and leave them with a fresh, lemony scent. Tucker explained, "This method is effective and environmentally friendly, it's a real winner. There's something satisfying about using natural ingredients, and the sheets look their best."
