Farewell to the Oldest Man in the World
Juan Vicente Perez, grandfather of 41 from Venezuela, passed away just two months shy of his 115th birthday. He achieved the milestone of being the first in his country to live past 110.

This week, the world's oldest man passed away peacefully, two months before his 115th birthday. Juan Vicente Perez, a farmer from Venezuela, had already become the world's oldest man in 2020, and was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records two years ago.
His death was announced by a governor from one of the regions in Venezuela, who tweeted from his X account: "Our beloved Juan Vicente Perez, today, with deep sadness and pain, we bid you farewell. You were an archetype of a man from Táchira, humble, hardworking, peaceful, and full of love for family and tradition. My old Don Vicente, you will always be remembered for your optimism in life, your faith, hope, and profound love for our country. You will always be a symbol of goodness, wisdom, and joy, and that is why your legacy will live on in our hearts and lives."
Perez's wife, Ediofina, passed away in 1997, after 60 years of marriage. He leaves behind 11 children, 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and their 12 children. At 112 years and 253 days, Guinness World Records wrote about him: "His secret to longevity is hard work, resting on holidays, and going to bed early."
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said: "Juan Vicente Perez ascended to eternity at age 114. He gifted Venezuela with the Guinness World Record for being the world's oldest man."
