A remarkable incident coming in from Brisbane, Australia, has recently gone viral on social media: a snake catcher discovered a massive snake lurking inside a house ceiling, and it wasn't alone – it had brought its lunch along.

In the footage, Steph, a snake catcher with 25 years of experience, can be seen pulling out a reptile through the hole of one of the light fixtures.

The video shows Steph peeling back part of the ceiling plaster to find the source of noises that the homeowner mentioned in a conversation. After a few minutes of digging, she found a giant python. The catcher removed a furry lump from the hole, only to realize that the snake had hidden its meal – a female possum and her young joey.

"Steph, the snake catcher, has seen quite a few things in her 25 years on the job, so a snake attempting to eat a possum isn't a surprise," the video description states. "She had to demonstrate her drywall skills because of the difficulty in extracting the python from the light fixture hole."

The snake measured 2.6 meters in length and was released into the wild after devouring its meal. "Is this what people in Australia deal with?" asked one commenter. "No worries. It's still my dreamland."

The captured python belongs to a family that inhabits Australia, New Guinea, and a few Indonesian islands. Its natural habitat consists of tropical regions, but it is also found in urban areas. Its length ranges from 2 to 4 meters, and as an adult, it weighs about 15 kg. It primarily feeds on bats, birds, lizards, and, of course, possums as well.
