This morning (Wednesday), Chef Haim Cohen shared a personal story on his Instagram about soldier Tomer Greenberg, the fallen Golani Battalion commander, who died in the battles in Gaza. Alongside him, seven other soldiers also lost their lives in the tragic event.

"During the war, we had the privilege to take our food truck to the 13th Golani Battalion. We met young fighters who spoke about the heavy losses from October 7, with deep sadness in their eyes for the friends they lost," Cohen wrote. "In the same breath of sadness, we heard and saw the determination to enter Gaza and fight for our home. These were such young kids. Everyone was talking about the fate of the people of Israel in this war.

"We also met veterans of the battalion, who came without prior coordination to this evening to support the younger soldiers and bring with them flags from the past as mementos, to revive the symbols of heritage lost on October 7. Leading it all was Tomer Greenberg, the admired battalion commander, with the humility that only great heroes possess. At that moment, I looked at him and his soldiers and thought, 'What luck this country has to have people like these, like these young men, like this guy. There's only one operation!'"

The chef concluded: "This is their motto that has stayed with me since that encounter. It's a very tough morning that started with the disaster on October 7 and continues with each morning we lose soldiers who are all beautiful, with angelic smiles. We bow our heads with broken hearts today, just like every day since that cursed day, with hope in our hearts to be worthy of the young men who have fallen. May their memory be blessed."
