A Simple Trick to Make Your Floors Shine

To bring a brilliant shine to your floors using just one ingredient you probably already have at home, give olive oil a try.

We were skeptical at first too when we stumbled upon this neat trick. All you need is a bucket, some warm water, and a capful of olive oil. This is the secret to removing stains and achieving a shine you won't believe. Of course, it's always wise to test it on a small patch of floor first to ensure there's no damage to the color.

Keep in mind, though, that too much olive oil can make floors slippery. Stick to the ratio of one small cap of olive oil per liter of water. Lightly dampen the mop with the warm water and olive oil mixture, and leave the floor slightly wet so the oil can soak up the stains and grime.

After about ten minutes, dry the floor with a squeegee and a dry mop. Repeat the process if the stain doesn't come off completely. If you are really concerned about slipping, you could use olive oil 'spot treatment' on areas that need it. And for extra safety, cleaning experts suggest adding a capful of dish soap for every half cap of olive oil, a quarter cup of salt, or a capful of laundry detergent to prevent slipping.
