Revitalize Your Veggies: Fresh Basil and More
Learn how to refresh wilted basil and other greens with this effective trick.

Stored fresh basil leaves in the fridge only to find them wilted and tired? Here's how to revive them with an effective trick:
Start by trimming the stems off your bundle of basil leaves. It's best to do this before refrigeration, but you can still use the tip afterward.
Rinse the leaves thoroughly in cold water to remove dirt, sand, and anything else. Pat the leaves dry and then use a paper towel to absorb any remaining moisture. Be careful - excess water can cause any type of leaf to rot.
Here are two options:
Either wrap the leaves in a few layers of paper towels and place them in a sealed container in the fridge, or keep the leaves in a bowl with water, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and use a little at a time as needed.
According to those in the know, this method will keep the leaves fresh for up to a week in the fridge.
Another option is to plant the herb in a pot with soil and water it as needed.
If you don’t plan to use the leaves immediately, you can also finely chop them in a food processor and freeze them in a silicone ice cube tray.
