(Photo: shutterstock)The Top 50 Pizza guide — considered the most respected pizza ranking in the world and often called “the Michelin of pizza”, has named La Piedra, a kosher pizzeria from Jerusalem, as the best pizza in Israel and one of the 50 best pizzas in the world. The restaurant earned the 38th spot globally, marking the first time ever an Israeli pizzeria has made it onto the list.
The pizzeria is run by Chef Avi Sinclair, who received a certificate and a chef’s jacket from the organization. “I’m deeply moved by this recognition,” said Sinclair after the announcement. “My partners and I are proud to have achieved international acknowledgment after years of hard work and dedication. This award opens the door for more Israeli pizzerias to enter this prestigious ranking. We promise to continue honoring the dish we live, breathe, and love so much — pizza.”
La Piedra, which operates two branches, specializes in authentic Neapolitan-style pizza baked in a traditional wood-fired stone oven. The restaurant opened its first location on Agron Street in 2016, and its name, La Piedra (“The Stone” in Spanish), was chosen as a tribute by the chef to his Argentine mother.
