If you have a backyard and want to grow your own banana plant, now you can.
A video that's gone viral on social media reveals a surprisingly simple method where you bury ordinary bananas in mud-filled pits. "The idea is to 'drown' the banana in water within the pit," explains a young woman who demonstrates the process.
Here's a step-by-step look at what she does and how it all began:
First, she separates all the bananas from a large bunch.

Next, she starts digging holes in the ground, just like this:

In the third step, she pours a little water into each hole, as shown in this picture:

Then she adds a bit of commercial soil into each pit, on top of the water, like so:

After that, believe it or not, she pours a can of cola into the pit, as you can see here:

Next, she adds a small amount of coconut water from a can, as shown here:

Then she buries each banana in a separate pit, covering them with more soil:

Cover the pits with more water, wait four days to a week, and return to collect your bananas - by then they will have grown roots, as shown here:

The key to this method is to keep each banana in a 'pool' of water, as bananas love water. Throughout the week, they need plenty of water to ensure their pits don't dry out.
Once the bananas have developed roots, they can be replanted - but this time, you can dig larger pits in the ground and plant 4-5 bananas with roots at once, as seen in this image:

Once again, ensure there's plenty of water available.
