Chaos in Buenos Aires: An Attempted Theft Leads to Fluttering Millions
A video capturing Buenos Aires residents collecting scattered cash has gone viral. Who owns the money, and what are people saying online?

A video showing dozens of Buenos Aires residents gathering money that scattered across the streets has gone viral.
The video has amassed over a million views on social media in Argentina and worldwide. It all started last Friday when a local resident was on his way to a bank with a backpack containing 7 million pesos.
The exact way the thief learned of the money's whereabouts is still unclear, but he attempted to snatch the backpack in broad daylight.
The man fiercely refused to give up the bag, deciding to fight the robber over what was presumably his hard-earned savings from the past six months. During their scuffle, the backpack ripped open, and the banknotes flew everywhere, prompting dozens of bystanders to rush over and collect the cash.
The scene turned chaotic quickly, with some citizens rushing to inform the police about the incident. However, the thief 'vanished' from the scene, scared of getting caught and jailed. At some point, someone offered to help the victim collect his money; however, this helper couldn't resist temptation and pocketed several bills by slipping them into his own bag without the owner's knowledge.
Ultimately, the man reached the bank with 70,000 pesos missing from his original amount.
"Lucky it's just a few thousand," commented several people online, noting how the situation could have resulted in him losing everything, and expressing gratitude that some good people stepped in to help. Another user remarked, "It's heartwarming to know there are still good people," though this sentiment faced criticism from others suggesting if they were truly good, they wouldn't have taken anything. "Why not?" wrote someone else in a rather puzzling reply. "It's a convenience fee for helping him gather the money."
