A woman from the island of Rhodes in Greece was shocked to receive what was dubbed "the world's most expensive parking ticket." She was surprised to get a notice in the mail for 6,648,444 euros this past summer after committing a parking violation.

The woman told local media that she nearly collapsed upon seeing the amount she was required to pay. Typically, a parking violation of this nature incurs a fine of 100 euros, but the local council sent her a letter demanding over 6 million euros. She approached the council to check if there was some mistake. She showed the parking ticket to an official and explained that the demand made no sense, and that she was unable to pay such a sum. The official was stunned by the letter she received and, after checking, realized it was a complete error.

According to reports, the responsible parties are unsure how the erroneous letter reached the woman's address, as parking fines in Greece are typically capped at 80 euros. The Greek media blamed a "heatwave messing with the minds of the collection department employees."
