Floyd Dean-Shannon, a flight attendant for the American airline Delta, has touched the hearts of many online after a photo of him calming and assisting a passenger experiencing an anxiety attack during a flight was shared widely on social media.

The picture, taken during a domestic flight in the United States from Charlotte to New York, has gone viral. It garnered over a million likes, with users suggesting that the attendant deserves a raise.

A passenger named Molly Simonson-Lee posted on her Facebook page a snapshot of the flight attendant sitting in the aisle, encouraging a fellow passenger. "Look at the amazing flight attendant we had on our flight," Simonson-Lee wrote. "The woman in the photo was very anxious about flying, so he patiently explained every sound and movement of the plane to her to calm her down. At one point, he even sat down on the floor next to her and continued to soothe her. He truly deserves a raise."

In an interview with ABC, Simonson-Lee shared: "He was very comforting and attentive towards the passenger. He told her, 'I am here with you, I will be here for you, whatever you need, just let me know.' He was lovely; every time there was a sound or movement, she would ask, 'What was that,' and he explained gently and patiently."

For 10 minutes, the attendant made an effort to assist the anxious passenger: "He didn’t have to do it, but it warmed the heart to see someone feeling the fear of a stranger and doing everything possible to help," Simonson-Lee emphasized.

Floyd Dean-Shannon has not publicly commented on the event, except for sharing one of the posts written about him. Delta Airlines has also not commented on the incident.
