"Ten Years I Couldn't Stand My Husband": Michelle Obama's Candid Confession

"For at least ten years - I couldn't stand my husband": Why is Michelle Obama revealing such personal details now?

AA

In a recent interview, Michelle Obama, former First Lady of the United States and wife of President Barack Obama, revealed that for ten years, she "couldn't stand her husband."

Michelle disclosed this during a program where notable women were invited to discuss the challenges in their marriages. "It's never a 50/50 split," she says. "The greater burden usually falls on the woman. My husband's career placed unbelievable stress on our marriage and threatened it more than once."

Malia and Sasha, their daughters, were seven and ten years old when their father was elected President. While it was joyful news for him, for Michelle, the tough road began. "Small children are poor communicators. They're always crying, and they don't talk. It was nearly impossible to raise them alone."

"In fact, I couldn't stand my husband for ten years, when our daughters were young," Michelle shares. "The burden of raising the kids fell mainly on me, and I felt it was simply unfair. We don't talk enough about the work it requires and how hard it is, even when living with the best person on earth and everything seems right. People think the division could be 50/50, and it's just not realistic. We've been married 30 years, and I've had at least ten bad years - but today, people give up and divorce over much less. Five years of suffering, and they up and leave. They can't stand it and don't understand that even if they're bad years, it passes. It won't always be like that."

So why is Michelle Obama sharing such personal details now?

It turns out that there's money, and a lot of it, in Michelle and her husband, former President Barack Obama's, 'memoirs.' In fact, in 2017, the Obama couple signed a deal expected to earn them 65 million dollars for the 'memoirs' they're now sharing with the media.
