NBC News photojournalist Nick Leimbach, who happened to be on the flight, captured the rare sight and shared it on his Twitter account. The video reveals the rocket rising, gaining speed, and leaving a trail behind. Nick wrote, "This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen."
The flight, departing from Washington, passed over NASA's Kennedy Space Center at the perfect time, just as the SpaceX rocket was carrying an unmanned spacecraft delivering supplies to the International Space Station.
