The Baby That Almost Broke a Guinness Record
Big babies are the cutest, but this one almost set a Guinness World Record with her birth weight.

There are people around the world who gain fame thanks to extraordinary miracles occurring in their lives.
One such person is Chrissy Corbitt - a mother of four, each of whom was born with an 'unbelievable' birth weight of around nine pounds. So, when she found herself pregnant with her fourth child, Chrissy had a strong feeling that this baby would be quite hefty.
And that's exactly what happened.
As her due date approached, her pregnancy belly became so large it was impossible to ignore. "People couldn't help but say something about it. Everyone who saw me on the street, even strangers, stopped me and wondered how I could carry such a belly?" Chrissy laughs.
One reason for her enormous belly was gestational diabetes, which she struggled with. "Doctors prepared me from my first pregnancy that high blood sugar levels in the last trimester could harm the baby," she recalls.
When Carly, Chrissy's daughter, was born via an early Cesarean section, the nurses were stunned.
"When the nurses told me the baby's weight, they whistled in awe. She weighed nearly thirteen pounds," Chrissy shares. "Seeing her for the first time, I couldn't believe it. She was so big. I was sure we were about to break a Guinness World Record."
In fact, it was almost true, but Chrissy later found out that the Guinness World Record is still held by a baby born in 1879, weighing 22.8 pounds at birth. Since then, no newborn has surpassed that weight, not even the chubby Carly. "She's just full of rolls; it's incredible. She's a baby that's a joy to hold and cuddle. She's so adorable," her mother concludes.
