UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists are abuzz with the strange noises recorded from the depths of a frozen lake, believing they might be signals from a hidden alien base. Scott C. Waring is among those convinced. Waring claims that the sounds captured at a Colorado lake are actually aliens communicating with one another, potentially even sparking a military response.
The recording, entirely authentic, was made by an employee of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Service earlier this month and shared on social media. Waring analyzed the recording and stated that "the signals point to a deep-seated alien base at the bottom of the lake. Due to its frozen state, the sounds are heightened. Essentially, the lake acts as an amplifier."
However, there is a much more logical explanation for these strange sounds. According to NPR, the United States public radio network, "Movement in the ice of a frozen lake, likely due to temperature changes, creates high and low-frequency sounds. As award-winning sound artist Andreas Bick noted in a post on the subject: 'The frequencies travel through the ice, with high frequencies moving faster than low ones, so the cracking and popping noises reach the listener with a significant time difference, while the glissando seems to plunge into nearly bottomless depths.'"
