Meet the world's largest latke: Created at the "Palace Modiin" retirement home in celebration of Hanukkah, this latke has claimed the record for size.

The project was initiated by Janet Kissary, a 75-year-old resident, who approached the management with her ambitious idea to create the largest latke in the world. The management agreed, and Janet brought out her grandmother's old recipe. With the help of the in-house chef Gilad Arslan, the latke journey began last week.

This massive latke is 1.60 meters in diameter and contains 87 kg of potatoes, 60 eggs, 17 kg of flour, 300 grams of salt, and 300 grams of black pepper.

A total of 280 people enjoyed the latke: the residents of the retirement home, those who helped with the preparation, the staff, and the nursing department occupants. Parts of the latke were even delivered to soldiers at the Maccabim checkpoint near Modiin.

In a conversation with 'Israel Hayom', Kissary explained, "This is not the first time we break Guinness records. Last Independence Day, the residents knitted the largest Israeli flag in the world, and during Passover, we built the tallest matzah and chocolate spread tower. This time, the idea was mine. The recipe comes from my grandmother, Chana Wolkowitz from Poland, passed down through generations and made annually in my home. For this event, we of course doubled the ingredient quantities.

"It's a kind of Hanukkah miracle that a single latke fed 280 people. All credit goes to the team that indulged my whims," concluded Kissary.
